Tortila Land

This time i’m gonna share you about Tortila. Tortila is a flat bread without yeast that usually is made from corn or wheat. There are 2 types of Tortila, Corn Tortila and Flour Tortila.

Corn Tortila is made from nextamalized corn (Nextamalized= a corn is placed in the lemon water for some times to separated the corn from its skin. Tortila Corn is believed came from North America and there’s a fact that the tortila does exist before Spanish came and gave the ‘Tortila’ name because it looks like their traditional Omelet. People in Mexico usually make the Corn Chips from the Corn Tortila, that is known as Nachos. The texture of corn tortila is harder than wheat’s.

Tortila Wheat is an inovation after flour are introduced by Spanish. Tortila Wheat is known as a bread without yeast that is flatten and cooked just like Tortila Corn. Tortila is normaly about 6-30cms depends on the region.

There are some food made from tortila.

Chilaqoles
is tortila corn that is cut into triangle shape and then fried. People usually eat them with Green/Red salsa sauce and served with beans.

Enchilada
is tortila corn that is rolled. People usually eat them with chili pepper sauce and served with beans and spinach rice.

Sincronizada
is tortila sandwich that is filled with cheese then grilled it to melt the cheese inside.

From Business point of view, we can make a place that is real Mexico that sells many foods with tortila as the star. Or we can make it to be street food which is cheaper but still delicious.
